this is dope
It has been a long journey but we have made it to the seventh and final chakra. I will go through everything you need to know about the seventh charka but at the end I will analyze the stats to my blog. I greatly appreciate all of your yogis support! Now lets talk about the beautiful crown charka aka Saharara is located on the top of your head, your crown. Sahasrara means “thousand pedaled” because the chakra is represented by a lotus flower with 100 petals. The color to this chakra is violet, white and gold. There isn’t just one element that is connected to the crown chakra its all the elements and then the element of thought.
If your crown chakra is under-active you will experience…
- Spiritual Cynicism
- Rigid Belief Systems
- Controlling Others
If your crown chakra is over-active you will have…
- Spiritual Addiction
- Disassociation from Body
- Over intellectualization
You can feel your chakra being unbalanced by feeling it physically thought migraines, amnesia, and cognitive delusions. These physical sensations can stem from withheld information, forced religion, blind obedience, spiritual abuse or even invalidation of one’s beliefs.
When balanced you will be…
- Broad Understanding
- Spiritually Connected
- Open Minded
- Aware of Surroundings
- Able to Perceive and Assimilate Info
To get to this balanced crown chakra feeling you can meditate, examine your beliefs, establish spiritual connection and establish physical connection.
Crystals are very important to this chakra because this chakra is the final chakra to your total enlightenment. Some crystals you need to have around should be…
- White Calcite
- Clear Quartz
Now lets talk about nutrition. Since this chakra is more spiritual than physical, it is not nourished with food in the same way that it fuels other chakras. This chakra’s food is simply prayer, meditation and fasting. I’ve got the meditation and fasting part down! The vibrations of this chakra often prefer no food at all. Consider a detox or fast to energize the crown chakra. Try fresh fruit and vegetable juices and drinks LOTS of water.
I have a mediation video for you this week full of affirmations and beautiful music to get you to your most enlightened being.
Now here are five yoga poses you can do to incorporate into your daily practice for the crown chakra.
That’s all seven yogis! Thanks for coming on this journey with me. I hope every day is as beautiful as the sunrise. I will be back with more posts but this is the closure of my chakra chapter one.
Be who you are, namaste….
I have to tell you guys this is my first time using WordPress to create my website. All the tools provided for you to create your own website are so easy to use. It sucks because I don’t have the tool to put videos in which was my whole basis so overcoming that started out as an issue for me. Though there are other tools available to help you work around any walls you might come to when creating your website. For the improvement of this site I would defiantly allow videos/gifs to be posted on the free version.
This experience has me feeling wonderful and motivated ready to take on the day. I discovered that I like blogging but I have gotten so much exposure to it that I do need a break. I am glad I learned how to create this site and properly write blog posts because I can continue it with my upcoming vegan/yoga/fitness Instagram page. I am about to get my physical being into some of the best shape of my life and having to create a blog about my chosen yoga topic just motivated me/kick started my weightless/fitness journey.
You guys were on my site the most the week of October 23- 29! 27 views and 15 total visitors, wow thank you! My most popular post washy blog review which was posted October 21- I think this is the most popular post because I think the yogi I wrote about shared it with his followers. It was viewed 21 times by 13 different people!
I was surprised that anyone has seen my blog besides my instructors- thank you for coming on this journey with me, I hope you have been inspired to implement yoga into your daily routines.
Hey yogis! I can’t believe we are almost done with the seven chakra system! Today we are talking all about the third eye chakra. The third eye chakra in Sanskrit is Ajna meaning brow. The color of this chakra is purple/ indigo which is how I got my DJ stage name. This is the sixth chakra in the seven chakra system. This chakra is located between your eyebrows making it your all seeing eye. This eye connects us to our cosmic insight and our intuition which makes since for this chakra’s element is light! Now lets talk about what you feel when your chakra is under-active, over-active, balanced and more!
If your third eye chakra is under-active you will experience…
- Poor Memory
- Lack of Imagination
- Closed Minded
- Difficulty Visualizing
People are more so effected by the third chakra being under-active and needing to give it some more strength to be balanced.
If your third eye chakra is over-active you will have…
- Difficulty Concentrating
- Mental Fogginess/Confusion
I feel as though I am in a mental fogginess during this time of final season.
You can feel your chakra being unbalanced by feeling it physically thought migraines, amnesia, and cognitive delusions. These physical sensations can stem from invalidation of intuition, frightening upbringing, when hat you see is not in line with what you are told.
When balanced you will be…
- Good Memory
- Able to Visualize
- Able to Link Symbolically
To get this chakra back on track you can create visual art, meditate, dream work, memory work and even guided visualizations. So drawing, editing videos, editing photos are all things under physical art you can do to get your chakra balanced. Meditation is very important to this chakra because opening your third eye means listening. In church people pray- they talk to the universe to their God but when do they listen for the answers to their prayers. Meditation connects us to the universe and the messages it sends to us. We often miss them and don’t think that we are receiving them because the chakra is not balanced or not strong enough.
To be able to start being more intuitive keep around these crystals
- Lapis Lazuli
- Blue Aventurine
There are also of course purple foods you can eat/incorporate into your cooking to strengthen the third eye charka
- Eggplant! One of my favorites- especially Japanese Eggplant from I just bake slices at 420 degrees for about 10-15 minutes add some seasonings and pair it with some brown rice quinoa mix. I am in cutting season so simple meals and seasonings are very important.
- Grapes are great to freeze and eat them by themselves or stick them in a smoothie. Though I do have to make a confession… I have never put grapes in my smoothies and you won’t see me putting them in any time soon. But you should try it and comment below on how good or bad it tastes in a smoothie.
- Blackberries! Now this one I love putting in my smoothies
- Purple Kale is something I haven’t seen at HEB or Cornucopia- the two grocery stores I shop at. I won’t stop my search for it! When I find this type of kale I will probably pan fry it with some broccoli or stick it in a smoothie with some mango or strawberry.
- Purple Potatoes! These potatoes are just like the rest just purple! I love making vegan hash with soy-chirizo and tofu- adding in some purple potatoes to the hash will help my third eye chakra.
- Purple Asparagus should be baked just like the eggplant! Pair this with the eggplant and rice to help your chakra.
Now my favorite healing and strengething process in any chakra healing is the yoga! So I am sharing with you my favorite third eye chakra sequence.
Welcome back yogis!! We should have our hearts healed and full of love and now are ready to thoughtfully and clearly talk about it. The chakra associated with speech is the throat chakra which in Sandskrit as Vishuddha. Vishuddha means “pure” or “purification.” The throat chakra is associated to the element of sound. The throat propagates sound which goes into the air- remember the heart chakra- and the vibration from the sound can be felt in not only our ears but our whole body. This chakra is very important to your communication and expression.
The throat chakra’s color is a blue turquoise and even an aquamarine blue. Though the auric color of the Throat chakra is seen usually as purple or turquoise. Wearing blue can help strengthen your chakra. My communication skills need some work especially since I have an orientation for my new job tonight.
Now lets talk about what you feel when your throat chakra is Under Active.
When your throat chakra is under active you will experience:
- Fear of Speaking
- Weak Voice
- Unable to Express Feelings
- Afraid to be Authentic
Now when your throat chakra is overactive you will…
- Dominate Voice
- Talk too much
- Not a good listener
- Interrupting Others
All of these unbalances can be rooted from someones mix messages and lies, verbal abuse, excessive criticism, authoritarian parents as well as substance abuse in the family. Right now my throat chakra is not showing symptoms of over or under activeness but there has definitely been times in the past when it has been both under active as well as over active.
Physical signs that your chakra is not balanced is when there are distorts in your throat, tightens in the neck and jaw, as well as experiencing problems with your voice and ears. I have personally had a lot of ear aches recently which I associate with my throat chakra being unbalanced.
Enough talking about your messed up throat chakra and let me tally what you should be able to do when the Throat chakra is balanced.
- Be able to express your truth and not afraid to speak your truth
- Your communication verbal/non-verbal is well interrupted to others
- Your connection with the etheric realm is getting stronger, etheric is the more subtle realms of spirit and intuitive abilities
- You will need to create, you will project ideas and may turn blueprints into reality
- You will realize your vocation, your purpose in this life, in this body
- And the one I need help with most- Good sense of timing
My chakra might not be under or over active but it is definitely out of balance.
My favorite healing process for the chakra is the stones. This chakra’s main stone, sodalite, is one of my favorites to have around the house. Not only is it a pretty blue and white speckled stone but it also brings an energy of communication into my apartment. I notice that when my friends have recently come over that they stay off their phones for a longer period of time and actually interact with each other!
Here are some others you can have around to heal and strengthen your throat chakra:
- Blue Agate
- Blue Topaz
For this weeks recipe I have decided to skip the smoothie and go right into the sea because of the main foods to heal this chakra is kelp! Yes you heard me, sea weed. You know, the legal stuff. It tastes damn good! Growing up in San Diego I basically lived off of this for the first 16 years of my life. I was born to mer-parents and was a mermaid til I moved to Texas and the tail went away. So watch out- if you eat enough kelp… you might grow a tail too!
This week I interviewed my yogi friend Cheyenne about why she thinks the throat chakra is the most important chakra out of the traditional seven. Watch the video to see what she says and learn three new yoga poses to heal this chakra.
Hey yogis I’m glad to be back this week to share my wisdom on clearing your heart chakra also known as anahata in Sandskrit. The heart chakra is the fourth chakra in the seven chakra sequence. Its element is air so driving with your windows down or going out to a park on a windy day will help you strengthen this chakra.
The color of the heart chakra is green which is strange to me because you would think it would be red. Though green symbolizes harmony, creativity, health and abundance of nature. We get the green color for the heart because it combines the yellow soul the blue spirit. Green is nature’s color which offers us new energy and revitalizes tired nerves.
Now lets talk about the symptoms to an overactive, under-active and unbalance heart chakra.
- Fear of Intimacy
- Poor Boundaries
- Overly Jealous
- Heart and Lung disorders
- Circulation Issues
- Chest Pain
- Breast Problems
When this chakra is balanced you should feel…
- Peaceful and Balanced
However this chakra has gotten unbalanced whether it was a spouse abandonment or being rejected/betrayed by someone close to you we can get this chakra back to its correct energy state by grounding work, vigorous exercise and strengthen will.
Crystals to use to heal will be…
- Green Tourmaline
For food healing you need to eat green foods like broccoli, spinach, kale, zucchini, green apples and avocados! So I found on Pinterest a BOMB spinach pineapple mango smoothie. Go check it out on the link below.
I decided to share with you a heart opening flow by Boho Beautiful. This is one of my favorite yoga flows by her. I hope you get to enjoy it too.
I hope you have been taking this time to focus on clearing and strengthening your sacral and root chakra. We are about to begin on our Solar Plexus clearing journey. This yellow chakra is the third primary chakra of the Hindu tradition. SolarPlexus chakra is also known as Manipura in sandskript.
Manipura’s element is fire so I recommend going outside when the sun is at its peak in the day as well as practicing yoga in the morning sunrise. As the nights get colder you can set up a campfire and meditate around the sounds of the fire.
This chakra deals with a since of self- I am going through a lot of changes in my life right now and I have lost a good since of myself. I have lost all of my self-esteem with all the weight I’ve gained so I am really going to take my time in all of the different elements we can do to help heal this chakra.
- Life ending up in disaster
- Sex feels like an addiction
- Tense muscles
- Creating drama when things go wrong
- Low energy
- Low self esteem
- Attraction to stimulates
- Poor follow through
- Poor digestion
- Eating disorder
- Chronic fatigue
- Hard to loose/gain weight
My solar plexus is definitely imbalanced as well as going between under active and over active. I am experiencing a lot of digestion issues and I have been dieting in unhealthy ways trying to loose weight.
Crystal healing is a good way to help heal this chakra. Some
- Yellow Zircon
- Tiger’s Eye
INSER CRYSTAL PHOTO WITH CANDLES
Now lets talk food! More specifically yellow food. Different foods like yellow squash, pineapple, bananas, beans, peppers, oats, millet, quinoa, and spices like ginger and turmeric.
So for this weeks smoothie we are heading to the tropics for the Tropical Solar Plexus Chakra Smoothie.
So for the tropical smoothie I have one whole banana, a handful of pineapple and half handfuls of peach/strawberries. You can sub mango for the peaches to get you into even a more tropical vibe for your smoothie.
Here you have it! The Tropical Solar Plexus Smoothie- I hope you all get to try this recipe out with not only just peaches but also mangos.
Now this chakra is located in the stomach so we have an all-level morning solar plexus yoga flow.
Hey yogis this week is different- I will be reviewing another blog on WordPress! Yes, I know, I am sad too- I wish I could provide you with solar plexus healing but right now you need to really focus on grounding yourself, healing your sacral chakra and now going to check out Love of Life Yoga Blog. The blog I will be reviewing is from the inspirational Dr. Alan Viau.
He lives and does yoga in Ottawa, Canada where he lives with his “sweetheart of 35 years” and they have three adult children living elsewhere in Canada. Before Alan turned 56 his doctors told him he had three cancers, kidney, bladder, and prostate.
In 2015 during the time of numerous hospital visits and other surgical procedures his sweetheart introduced him to yoga. He fell in love with it. That’s the start to my favorite love story. People who seem like the whole world is over fall in love with something so beneficial to their health. He fought and won against all the cancers and now inspiring others to join his yoga movement.
His blog really stood out to me because of his story and his recovery from three different types of cancers and six separate tumors. His blog has a variety of topics under the big umbrella of yoga. He gives us helpful tips on how to change your home into what feels like a yoga spa.
His most recent blog post also my favorite is about how the environment around you effects your yoga practice. Dr. Alan talks about five main components to making your yoga environment peaceful, relaxing and motivating for you to start and finish your yoga practice.
I applaud Dr. Alan and everything he has gone through. To have the will to go on stronger than ever before AFTER six successfully removed tumors amazes me. My Mom had stage three breast cancer when I was eight years old- in third grade. Her spirit died as the cancer progressed. Though my Mom beat cancer and never had it returned she was never truly herself after that time. I have constantly tried to get my Mom into yoga. Though she is very active outdoors I know how much adding yoga into her life will improve so many different aspects of her life.
Go check out Dr. Alan’s blog- read about his story and maybe you too will be inspired as I am to continue on my yoga teacher journey.
See you next week when we return to discuss the solar plexus chakra!
Hey yogis! We’re back for week two of your chakra healing journey. This week we are looking at the orange Sacral Chakra or Svadhishthana in sandskript. This chakra is located in our reproductive area where it deals with the emotions, your sexuality, feelings and especially creativity. For myself I know my creativity has taken a downward spiral.
This chakra’s element is water so spending time at the beach, by a lake, or even a river will encourage the healing that this chakra needs. In San Marcos, Texas- where I currently reside- the San Marcos River starts at the aquifer at the bottom of campus and then flows through the city and then right behind my apartment complex.
If you have been feeling discomfort in your own emotions and feelings possibly over an event or people- well let me tell you, it’s time to let go. Holding onto past grudges and other negative feelings builds up in this chakra- physically the negative energy is being stored in your hips. Now lets take a look at an over-active chakra, under-active and an imbalanced sacral chakra.
- Pleasure addiction
- Excessive emotions
- Very sensitive
- Emotional dependence
- Poor boundaries
- Rigidity in the body
- Poor social skills
- Fear of sex
- Denial of pleasure
- Lack of passion and desire
This is so me. I need to activate my chakra and heal it.
- Shame of our body/sexuality
All of these symptoms can be helped balanced out through crystal healing.
- Red and brown aventurine
- Red garnet
- Red jasper
There is so many orange foods that can heal your sacral chakra like pumpkins, peaches, oranges, carrots, mangos, apricots, sweet potato, orange peppers, cantaloupe and more!! Now you can always eat apricots by itself or cut up an orange pepper and dip it in hummus. I will be presenting another smoothie recipe for you and a sweet potato recipe!
SMOOTHIE AND SWEET POTATO RECIPE
For the smoothie I did a mango base smoothie with a twist. I use a lot of the same ingredients in my smoothies but I am always switching what fruits I decide to put in.
We have the same base for the smoothie with some agave nectar, raw fit protein, chia seeds and then ripple pea protein milk.
As you can see above we also have in this smoothie a banana, 2 handfuls of frozen mango, and the twist… a couple teaspoons of matcha green tea powder! I love the mango- matcha combination and its super beneficial to your health. Matcha powder has many health benefits for you like boosting your metabolism- which is always my goal in my eating- as well as being high in antioxidants it helps improve your skin. My skin right now is completely broken out so hopefully with a week of drinking this smoothie in the morning my face will begin to clear.
Matcha also boots your immune system, so during this flu season you can not only get the shot to prevent the flu but also incorporate matcha powder into your diet. Matcha also improves concentration so put down that adderall and drink up!
Put the banana in first, then the frozen mango, then the powders and chia seeds. Blend with the vegan milk and ENJOY!
Due to the location of this chakra we will be doing a hip opening flow where we will release all the negative and draining energies that are built up in your legs. The chakra’s element is water so I am right on top of the river when I am doing this yoga sequence for you guys.
Well that’s a wrap on this week’s chakra- next time I will be reviewing a blog from WordPress that is like my own! Stay tuned and keep up with me on twitter so you know when I post new blogs!
Hey yogis, I hope you’re ready to learn about the first chakra the root chakra. Known in sanskrit as Muladhara it is one of the seven primary chakras according to Hindu tantrism. Muladhara is symbolized by a red lotus flower. This chakra is located at the base of the spine- which is why it’s known as the grounding chakra. It connects us to our sense of groundedness and survival instinct.
This is the chakra you want to focus on first when starting your healing journey.
The root chakra’s element is Earth. So a big part of clearing, healing and strengthening is practiced outside in nature. For me my daily yoga practices are done at John Stokes Park next to my apartment complex. In yogic traditions it is most important to stabilize this chakra first. So lets talk about what you experience when this chakra is over-active, under-active and imbalanced.
Over-active Root Chakra Symptoms Include
- anger, annoyance, aggression
- becoming dependent on the security from other people
- very difficult for you to accept change
- may become very materialistic or impulsive
Under-active Root Chakra Symptoms Include
- feeling disconected to the world around you
- feeling disorganized
- lack focus
- become afraid and anxious
- lack of stamina
Imbalanced Root Chakra Symptoms Include
- weight loss/gain
- poor immune system
- irritable bowel syndrome
If you relate to any of these symptoms I have different practices you can use to help clear and balance this chakra.
Crystal Healing: For Muladhara the crystals you want to keep around you are…
- Smokey Quartz (I have this stone as a necklace and I wear it more often than other crystals I have.)
- Red Jasper/Jasper
For crystal healing you want to keep the crystal on you when you leave for school or work. Keeping it in your pocket or in your purse. Then during your yoga practice you should have the crystals on your mat.
Not only is crystal healing important but so is the food that you put into your body during this time of healing. You want to eat red foods like beets, apples, cherries, pomegranate, watermelon, and my favorite strawberries. I have created a root chakra healing smoothie.
To start- on the left I have Agave Nectar, Raw Fit High Protein for Weight Loss and Chia Seeds. For my liquid in this smoothie I will be using Ripple Dairy-Free Pea Protein Milk. Below I have all the ingredients (except the plant based milk of course). I use a ripe banana and frozen strawberries. Strawberries are the chakra clearing food in this recipe so I recommend throwing in a ton of strawberries.
There is no measuring in my recipe because I work with what I feel will taste good and work in my body like food should.
There you go! Very Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie
I have also created a quick 10 minute yoga sequence to target healing and strengthening your root chakra. You can do this flow any time of day but I suggest flowing in the morning to start your day grounded- filling you with positive energy to continue throughout your day with.
Each week I am going to focus on one chakra. This week it has been the root chakra. I want you yogis to do this yoga sequence every morning for at least 7 days straight. Keep at least one of the crystals I listed above on you at all times. Then for the smoothie I want you to eat it for breakfast after your yoga flow, as a mid-morning pick me up, or even as a post-workout meal.
Thanks for stopping by, go get your healing on before we move onto the sacral chakra.
Hello yogis! I am here to answer the big questions revolving my blog: What are chakras? How do we clear them? How do we know that they are blocked? Here I am to answer and give you a little understanding as to what they are so we can know how to clear and heal them. Though throughout the next couple months I will be posting on each individual chakra.
Chakras are believed to be centered psychic energy in the subtle body. This belief is found in esoteric traditions of many Indian religions. The word chakra comes from the sanskrit word meaning wheel, circle or cycle.
In different religions there are a different number of chakras. In tantric traditions- Hinduism and Buddhism- there are traditionally seven chakras. Chakras are a very big part of the yoga practice. As yogis go on their enlightened journey they start at the lower located chakra to the highest chakra blossoming in the crown of the head.
That is my goal- a blossoming crown chakra a.k.a total enlightenment. Restoring my energy into the seven chakras is so powerful that it can renew balance in my life, I will create a deeper sense of happiness within myself, I am going to increase my focus and dedication for future goals.
Click HERE to take a test to see which chakra you most need clearing or balancing. I need to heal my heart. It makes since because I have recently gotten out of a serious relationship unexpectedly. To balance my heart chakra I will be doing heart opening yoga poses and making foods that promote healing in the chakras.
Next blog post I will go through how to know if your root chakra is blocked, how to clear/heal it through methods I think worst best to balancing your life.
Until next time yogis.
