Svadhishthana aka Sacral Chakra

Hey yogis! We’re back for week two of your chakra healing journey. This week we are looking at the orange Sacral Chakra or Svadhishthana in sandskript. This chakra is located in our reproductive area where it deals with the emotions, your sexuality, feelings and especially creativity. For myself I know my creativity has taken a downward spiral.

This chakra’s element is water so spending time at the beach, by a lake, or even a river will encourage the healing that this chakra needs. In San Marcos, Texas- where I currently reside- the San Marcos River starts at the aquifer at the bottom of campus and then flows through the city and then right behind my apartment complex.

If you have been feeling discomfort in your own emotions and feelings possibly over an event or people- well let me tell you, it’s time to let go. Holding onto past grudges and other negative feelings builds up in this chakra- physically the negative energy is being stored in your hips. Now lets take a look at an over-active chakra, under-active and an imbalanced sacral chakra.

Over-Active

  • Pleasure addiction
  • Excessive emotions
  • Very sensitive
  • Emotional dependence
  • Poor boundaries

Under-Active

  • Rigidity in the body
  • Poor social skills
  • Fear of sex
  • Denial of pleasure
  • Lack of passion and desire

This is so me. I need to activate my chakra and heal it.

Imbalanced

  • Jealousy
  • Guilt
  • Possessivness
  • Shame of our body/sexuality

All of these symptoms can be helped balanced out through crystal healing.

  • Red and brown aventurine
  • Red garnet
  • Red jasper
  • Carnelian

There is so many orange foods that can heal your sacral chakra like pumpkins, peaches, oranges, carrots, mangos, apricots, sweet potato, orange peppers, cantaloupe and more!! Now you can always eat apricots by itself or cut up an orange pepper and dip it in hummus.  I will be presenting another smoothie recipe for you and a sweet potato recipe!

SMOOTHIE AND SWEET POTATO RECIPE

For the smoothie I did a mango base smoothie with a twist. I use a lot of the same ingredients in my smoothies but I am always switching what fruits I decide to put in.

We have the same base for the smoothie with some agave nectar, raw fit protein, chia seeds and then ripple pea protein milk.

As you can see above we also have in this smoothie a banana, 2 handfuls of frozen mango, and the twist… a couple teaspoons of matcha green tea powder! I love the mango- matcha combination and its super beneficial to your health. Matcha powder has many health benefits for you like boosting your metabolism- which is always my goal in my eating- as well as being high in antioxidants it helps improve your skin. My skin right now is completely broken out so hopefully with a week of drinking this smoothie in the morning my face will begin to clear.

Matcha also boots your immune system, so during this flu season you can not only get the shot to prevent the flu but also incorporate matcha powder into your diet. Matcha also improves concentration so put down that adderall and drink up!

Put the banana in first, then the frozen mango, then the powders and chia seeds. Blend with the vegan milk and ENJOY!

Due to the location of this chakra we will be doing a hip opening flow where we will release all the negative and draining energies that are built up in your legs. The chakra’s element is water so I am right on top of the river when I am doing this yoga sequence for you guys.

Well that’s a wrap on this week’s chakra- next time I will be reviewing a blog from WordPress that is like my own! Stay tuned and keep up with me on twitter so you know when I post new blogs!

Namaste.
